“It’s hot as fuck in here, and ya’ll are still fucking here” uttered the alluring Will Ramos as he thanked thousands of fans for sticking it out through the heat that circulated inside the walls of this historic venue. We all felt the heat festering within us. Lorna Shore brought their fans to hell with them during their performance in the most artistic production of their careers alongside Ramos’s grotesquely inhuman yet mesmerizing gutturals.
September 27th, 2025, at the Masonic Temple Theatre in Detroit Michigan began with fans lined along the long outer walls of the temple, rounding every corner. From first glance you could see the excitement and devotion to the line up that was preparing behind closed doors. Facial expressions, eagerness adorning their every move and merch covering the masses. Warmhearted venue staff greeted fans and guided you to your seats with ease, Merch slingers worked together like a well-oiled machine and stagehands moved so effortless and swiftly that kept this overall production top tier.
Peeling Flesh, Shadow of Intent and The Black Dahlia Murder opened the evening with passion and vigor, intertwining the crowd into part of their performances. The energy all three bands brought to the stage was infectious. Lines blurred between who was heard more, the bands or the fans captivated by their lyrical and melodic stage presence. A Banana man was lurking in the masses, waiting to be pulverized in the pit while Shadow of Intent’s performance unfolded. The rooms ambience brought a sense of calm, with beautiful ornate detail in every direction you faced which was short lived once immersed and caught in the current of each set. During the Black Dahila Murder’s set their timeless Gorilla made an appearance, bringing back an era we are all accustomed to. Peeling Flesh made sure to bring the trends alive with their reference to “nothing beats a jet 2 holiday”. Each band expressed intensely fueled gratitude to the audience. Every break between songs gave the chance to catch your breath as it was stolen by the vibrations of the room. Artists were spellbinding with every movement full of emotion. The opening trio laid the groundwork for unforgettable evening…
After the last intermission an ominous white banner masked the stage as fans reclaimed the standing room of the venue. Sweaty bodies ready to cut loose their frustration from the immense heat lining the designated pit. The lights went dim and the stage lights began peering through the banner that hid the band’s arrival. As oblivion started to echo through the venue the chords melodically gave the que to drop the banner in such an angelic manner. Only to bring us to Hell’s gate. The room began to move with the crowd, movement could be felt beneath our feet as the pit opened ferociously. Security although prepared were met with an onslaught of bodies being offered up and fell to the oblivion. The set list was well thought out moving from Oblivion to Unbreakable. “The quake that never ceased” bellowed through the crowd so fitting for the energy that was given back in the moment and lyrics being quavered with emotion. Ramos continued to memorize the masses with his unique vocal range that sounds of pure darkness. Bringing life to the meaning behind the latest album release “I Feel The Everblack Festering Within Me”. Lorna Shores’ climb to the deathcore throne is no secret, and no surprise either. Topping the charts and demanding the well-deserved respect. Of the abyss and Sun//Eater made for a palette cleanser after two hard hitting singles off the new album. Sun//Eater captivated and demanded your attention. The visuals of the production and Ramos’s vocals melted your face off with a hell bound fire ball. The evening continued with Cursed to die and Into the Earth, both also from the 2022 release of Pain Remains. Bringing the crowd back to the Everblack was Glenwood. “Can we go back?” declared Ramos. The
emotion emitted from the speakers in chorus and notes filled the room like a storm. Lyrics spoke to the broken and damned. Staying true to the Everblack we were transported into a Prison of Flesh, fitting for the intensity of the standing room of the venue that continued. Hell bound heat from the intense number of fans passing overhead and carnage from the pit were mixed with lyrics like “These demons reside in me” and “I can’t escape the dark within” brought the instrumental inferno by De Micco, Archey, O’Connor and Yager home. The attention to detail in every aspect of this production was well thought out with the fans in mind, a demonic gift of illusion. Into the Hellfire brought the show to a close, or so we thought. During this iconic presentation of one of their most popular singles, an area in the pit opened. Giving sight to a couple relishing in the nightmare surrounding them, only to join together in matrimony. What a sight for all the witnesses in the pit, bliss and happiness in a place thought to be a slaughter. The evening closed on a high full of pain. Pain Remains trilogy transported us all into Fire and Despair in such a fitting and artist way. As everyone started to dwell in the hallways to catch their breath, the enthusiastic reviews of the evening started to fill every conversation. If you are gifted the opportunity to experience this performance, don’t let it slip by. The universe is putting you there for a reason.
